About me
My name is Violet Lyttle and I am the owner/trainer of Mt. Pleasant K9s. I have been working with dogs for as long as I can remember. Starting in veterinary medicine back in 2014, my knowledge grew a ton by handling animals in typically stressful situations at the vet. I learned Fear Free* ways to handle the animals I was helping. Taking every day I could, studying the body language of the patients that came in to keep the stress low and my coworkers safe. This only grew my love for training and learning dog psychology.
Over the years I wanted to enjoy my dogs by competing in sports to grow our bond and relationship. Starting with agility, I ran with my German shepherd dog. We may have rarely won but we sure did have fun! That was the most important part to me. I watched us understand each other better and improve her behavior in other aspects. As I got more dogs I tried different sports. Currently I compete in IGP/Schutzhund with my Doberman pinscher. Having gotten him in a less than ideal state, the sport really pushed our relationship and made us work harder together to be better.
I also am currently starting and working on my career in the detection world with my Belgian Malinois. Learning as much as we can so we can certify as a firearms/explosives K9 team to work venues and events to keep them safe.
My other personal interests that don’t include dogs (very hard to believe lol) are 4 wheeling in the woods or at the sand dunes in Oregon with my fiancee. Originally from New Jersey, I have fallen in love with the scenery that the PNW has to offer. I enjoy hiking/camping all over(with my dogs of course!).
